Training and Exercising For Your Golf Muscles

perfect golf swing tiger woodsWithout proper golf exercising you might not be able to continue performing a good round of golf. The exercise that I’m talking about is the kind that helps your golf swing – the back swing, downswing, and the follow through.

Most muscles in your body are used during your swing and it is your job to execute them correctly so that the muscles involved have a chance to memorize the correct motions so that you can repeat an effective swing time after time.

The muscles that directly help your swing are; the chest, the back and the upper arms. These areas allow you to hit the ball with the force you need. The muscles that allow you to make the motions or to move the club to in-turn strike ball are: the pectorals (chest), the deltoids (shoulders) and the back respectively. The muscles of the forearm and the wrist control the direction of the swing.

Properly exercising your muscles allows you to swing as you’ve learned or as you’ve been taught. You can develop or exercise these muscles through repetition – remembering repetition of motions that result in a good shot. This is one reason why people receive proper training so that when they practice their golf swing their muscles are memorizing proper movement for them to repeat it, the motions, each time they swing, resulting in a consistently good accurate golf shot.

The real goal of additional training and exercising is to improve reflexes and strengthen the areas of the body used during a golf swing and golf game in general (walking and the base form).

Abdominal exercises and balance drills help stabilize form. Weight lifting strengthens leg muscles, the upper back, the chest and the shoulders. Exercises to improve strength in the wrist are required for those who hardly do any manual work.

You might also consider using Isometric exercises to improve your reflexes. You need fast muscle response to transfer the speed of your swing to the ball. A good balance between strength and speed can produce coveted improvement to your golf game.
