The Right Golf Swing?
Do You Have The Right Golf Swing?
Each and every one of us who plays golf, sandbaggers and pro alike, are seeking or dreaming of the perfect golf swing. If there were a perfect fits-all golf swing you could sell it for millions but then of course it wouldn’t be such a highly sought after commodity.
There may not be a fits-all perfect golf swing but we’re all smart enough and have golfed enough to realize deep inside that there is a perfect golf swing tailored to you individually.
The facts are, a great golf swing is highly dependent on how you personally transfer energy from the club and the ball. Think you know what the “the sweet spot” is for you? Well, do you know for sure? I doubt it and that is why we’re not all the best of the best in golf.
Do you wonder why people practice so often and take lesson after lesson and hit endless balls at a driving ranges, etc? It’s in pursuit of the “holy grail” of golf swings. Your skill set is different from the next golfer and you must personally work hard at the swing to find what you’re doing wrong and what you are doing right in order to gain the knowledge about what works best for you.

In golf, even a minute mistake in your swing and how you hold your club will shoot the ball off target. So changing around your grip, the way you move your arms and body can have a huge affect on the effectiveness of your golf shots. It’s difficult to identify what is best for you but you can do it if you focus. If you simply wish for it but don’t seriously concentrate on it then you’ll end up like 90% of the people – constantly in the rough and far short of enough good shots to keep you coming back to this wonderful game.
Equipment wise, use a club that you are comfortable with that you can improve with. There are a lot of shapes and sizes and that’s because we are different and capturing the proper combination of golf equipment, power and technique is the goal. You are attempting to improve on how the golf club hits the ball.
The movements you make during the swing affect how the club hits the ball so focus and take notice of what you were doing when the ball goes off into the blue yonder for a spectacular shot or just skips off the tee grazing the worms and the like and falling to a short halt.
Increasing your strength has a great deal to do with improving your swing. While brute power is not effective – controlled powerful movements is the ticket to a good shot. So when it is suggested that you work out and improve your arm strength for example, don’t forget to control how you hold the club, the length of your swing and the type of wrist action as well as the follow through you give to your golf shots.
Pursuit of a better golf swing through self-analysis is a worthy goal and is key to your success and provides clues to what you’re doing wrong that a proper course, book or class may be trying to help you fix. You might fix it on your own or you might do better taking suggestions from a pro, but analyzing what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong is essential in all cases.
